Introduction[]

Gems.png

Gems are a form of currency in Crazy Kings. Your Hero (or Avatar) starts the game with 50 Gems. Gems can be acquired and spent in the game. Gems can be acquired by completing levels, by winning levels in the Outpost, by playing Fortune Slots, by completing Quests, through the Gem Mines (once they are discovered), and they can also be bought in the Crazy Kings Shop (Store). Spending Gems in the game allows the player to bypass the game timers. They allow you to instantly play in the Arena and Tournament, instantly repair stairs or pathways and therefore allow you to advance in the King Tower levels quicker, get additional Cards in the Daily Reward Chest, revive your Heroes when they fall in battle, and upgrade your Cards instantly.

Acquiring Gems[]

Level Completion[]

You can earn Gems by completing regular levels as well as King Tower levels. Usually 3 or 5 Gems are given per winning Star to which Gems are assigned (3 Gems for one Star and 5 Gems for two Stars). Three Gems are usually paired with 5 Energy in the King Tower levels. Occasionally only 2 Gems are rewarded (e.g., for one Star in "Nevertwain Road" and "The Cyprian Delve") and it is 10 Gems (e.g., for two Stars in "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Bull?" and "Figaro's Labyrinth") and 20 Gems (e.g., for three Stars in "Dying Embers" and "Catacombs of Qet") that are rewarded on some of the harder levels.

The first two Quests Treasure Chests give you some predefined Cards. The first Quests Treasure Chest gives you Archer Tower, Centurion and Leather Cuirass. The second gives you Lightning Tower, a random Card, and Meteor Strike. On the third Chest, you start getting Gems as one of the rewards. The other two rewards are random Cards. The number of Gems received does not appear to be random and has been confirmed up to the 32nd Chest:

Gem Mines[]

The Gem Mine in Bird Land.

You can obtain Gems from Gem Mines once they are discovered. There is a Gem Mine in Minotaur Land (that becomes open after the completion of "The Pits of Hyllestad"), there is one in Undead Land (that becomes open after the completion of "Prospero’s Folly"), and there is one in Bird Land (that becomes open after the completion of "The Cyprian Delve"). The Gem Mines have a limited storage capacity and will need to be collected regularly. All three mines have a maximum storage capacity or stockpile of 15 Gems each, for a total of 45 Gems. The first time a Gem Mine is discovered you get the full stockpile of 15 Gems. Click on a Gem Mine at any time to collect its Gems. The stockpile will then reset to 0. A Gem Mine produces a Gem every three hours for a total of 8 Gems per day.

Daily Gems.png

In Game Version 1.48, the update that brought about the "Halloween Invasion" Invasion Event, a new offer of Daily Gems was made through the Crazy Kings Shop. For a price of $2.99 in U.S. dollars, a player can receive 2,000 Gems each month. The player receives 200 Gems immediately on purchase and then 60 Gems every day for a period of 30 days. This comes out to a cost of $0.1495 per hundred gems, or a savings of 85%.

Here is a link to a Discussion thread explaining how multiple Daily Gems Packs are treated.

Gem Giveaways[]

TicBits holds Gem giveaways on their Crazy Kings Facebook page periodically. Winners are chosen at random from those who answer a question or simply share their user ID or a screenshot. The winners are given Gems, usually in increments of 25 (25, 250, 500, 850, 5000, etc.).

Spending Gems[]

If you attempt to spend Gems you don't have, a dialog box titled "Short on Gems" will appear and it will ask, "Would you like to get more?" Clicking "No" will return you to the game whereas clicking "Yes" will take you to the Crazy Kings Shop.

Energy[]

50 Energy can be purchased for 89 Gems. The first time you run out of Energy in the game (and as long as you have been playing continuously without interruption), Pixi will refill your Energy once for free.

Borrowing Friends[]

In the King Tower levels, you can spend Gems to "borrow a friend." Heroic Helmut can be borrowed for 25 Gems and Epic Elmo can be borrowed for 50 Gems. These friends can be controlled by the player for use in battle on the level in which they were purchased. Heroic Helmut and Epic Elmo level up automatically as the game progresses. Alternatively, you can borrow another player's Avatar and their equipment through Facebook.

The Outpost[]

If you miss a day in the Outpost, it will reset to Day 1 unless you pay Gems to resume where you left off. It will cost 25 Gems for the first day, plus 10 Gems for every additional day, for a maximum cost of 95 Gems.

Arena Play[]

If you don't have any Arena tickets and there are currently no more videos available to watch, the player can spend Gems to play in the Arena. The first time it costs 9 Gems, the second time 14 Gems, the third time 20 Gems, the fourth time 30 Gems, the fifth time 46 Gems, and so on. The moment you acquire an Arena ticket (you receive one every 1 hour, 30 minutes and can receive up to a maximum of three tickets), the Gem cost to the Arena resets. Earning a ticket by watching a video will lower the subsequent Gem cost of a ticket to the previous amount.

Tournament Play[]

Your first entry into Tournament play is free and you have to wait a certain length of time for free re-entry. Alternatively, you can spend Gems to play again in the Tournament. The cost is the same as it is for Arena play.

King Tower Stairs Repair[]

"What's this? The stairs are broken! Repairs are underway though - soon the conquest will continue! The pathway is broken but it is being repaired with all haste!" In the King Tower levels, Gems can be used to repair stairs or pathways in order to advance to the next level without having to wait. With some exceptions, stairs in the King Towers need to be repaired every two levels. As you progress in the King Towers, the time it takes for stairs to be repaired increases as shown in the following tables.

Reviving Heroes[]

Gems can be used to revive Heroes instantly without waiting when they fall in battle. It costs one Gem the first time and with every subsequent revival the cost doubles (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc.).

Card Upgrades[]

Gems can be used to pay for card upgrades instead of waiting for the Card Upgrader timers to finish. For example, to upgrade Poison Tower from Level 3 to Level 4 takes six hours. A player can make the upgrade instantly by paying 73 Gems. If the player were to wait three hours after starting the upgrade, the player will then only have to pay 41 Gems.

Charting the data above gives the following equation where y is the total minutes of upgrade time and x is the Gem cost. It is a sixth-order polynomial trend/regression that will continue to be refined. The equation is not perfect and not too user-friendly but it does have a R2 coefficient of determination of 0.9998 so it approximates the real data points fairly well.

y = -2E-22x6 + 2E-17x5 - 5E-13x4 + 6E-09x3 - 4E-05x2 + 0.2163x + 3.5269
